Create A New AccountThis is the sleeve for the rear of the crankshaft. The V8 engines were originally fitted with oil flingers to the front (UE5770 & UE5769) and rear (UE5501) of the crankshaft to prevent oil leakage – The rear oil flinger is pressed onto the crankshaft and rotates inside a recess on the rear end backplate which has an internal threaded scroll which is designed to throw the oil back into the engine. These scrolls have a tendency to sludge up leading to oil leaks. Later cars from approximately 1979 were fitted with engines (referred to as B series) with lipped oil seals around the front (UE40939) and rear (UE44273) of the crankshaft. This sleeve is required if you want to modify your engine to accept the modified lip seal. We supply a kit of parts (UE7488KIT) which allows you to carry out this modification without having to remove the rear crankshaft oil flinger. If, however, there are signs of wear or damage to your rear oil flinger or that area of the crankshaft we recommend removing the flinger and replacing it with this sleeve.
